SAI calls for supporting personnel at coaching camps

Ahmedabad, Oct 15 (UNI) The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has consented to the proposal of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to provide necessary scientific back-up and related support for National Coaching Camps organised for the preparation of Olympic Games 2008 and Commonwealth Games 2010.

SAI, in a release here, said the bio-data of supporting personnel were called for to utilise their specialised services during National Coaching camps towards inputs of yoga and other traditional techniques for psychological preparations of players during National Coaching Camps as an integral part of training.

(i) Doctors in Sports Medicine, Rs 1,000 per visit (at least 3 visits a week). He/she will be responsible for regular medical check up/tests to be conducted for National campers.

(ii) Physiologists, Rs 1,000 per day (not exceeding 4 days in a month). He/she will be responsible for conducting Physiological Tests to National Campers and providing necessary feed back to coaches from time to time.

(iii) Psychologists, Rs 1,000 per day (not exceeding four days in a month). He/she will be responsible for conducting Psychologist Tests to National Campers and providing necessary feed back to coaches from time to time.

(iv) Nutritionists, Rs 1,000 per day (not exceeding four days in a month). He/she will be responsible for monitoring the menu provided to National Coaching Campers and educating the campers about hygiene.

(v) Physiotherapists, Rs 12,000 per month outsourced on full time basis.

(vi) Masseurs/masseuses, Rs 8,000 as consolidated remuneration per month on full time basis will be reimbursed to the incumbent.

All the above supporting personnel will be paid remuneration by SAI under the scheme 'Financial Assistance to National Sports Federations'. Their services, however, will be on an outsourcing basis and not borne by the SAI, the release said.

All the concerned National Sports Federations have been requested to forward the bio-data of the supporting personnel, which could be deliberated in the review LTDP meetings.
