Sai beat GKM, Karnataka Police recover to edge out ICF
Payyanur, Mar 2 (UNI) SAI, Thalassery trounced GKM Foundation, Chennai, 3-0, in the women's section of the Group II National volleyball league here today.
The SAI girls, who had a clear edge over their rivals, took only 45 minutes to put down the challenge of GKM, and winning 25-16, 25-13, 25-19.
With the telling smashes of skipper Joemol P J and neat placements by Minimol Abraham , SAI succeeded won the first set easily in 16 minutes (25-16). Though Ramy, Tintu Visweswar Kalavni and Kavitha scored some points, it did not stop the hosts from winning the set.
SAI girls continued their tactics in the second set also and collected the first seven points in a row through Reshma's brilliant service. They maintained the lead through Princy Joseph, Joemole and Minimol and finished the second set in 14 minutes conceeding 13 points (25-13).
Minimol with her allround performance, both in smashes and placings, then enabled the SAI girls to wrap up the set as well as the game 25-19 in 15 minutes.
In a late night match yesterday in the men's section, Karnataka Police beat ICF, Chennai, 23-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-18 and 17-15.
