Rooney joins up with England
MANCHESTER, England, Feb 5 (Reuters) Striker Wayne Rooney has joined up with England for their friendly against Spain on Wednesday, a day after suffering a knock on club duty with Manchester United.
Rooney has met up with his England team mates, who will be training at United's Carrington complex, an FA spokeswoman said today.
United said he had passed a fitness test earlier in the day but would be assessed by England's medical team.
No details were given on the injury, reported to be a back problem, which Rooney suffered in the second half of United's 4-0 Premier League win at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Though cleared to join up, Rooney may not feature in Wednesday's game, a warm-up designed to prepare England for their Euro 2008 double-header qualifiers in March against Israel and Andorra in Group E.
