Ronjon Sodhi bags bronze for India in Shooting World Cup

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) India's Ronjan Sodhi bagged his maiden individual medal in the World Cup today when he won the Bronze medal in the individual double trap event at Santo Dominigo (Dominican Republic).

Ronjon started shakily in the morning when he shot the first round, scoring 43 out of 50, but followed it up with two excellent rounds of 49 and 48 to end up with an impressive 140 out of 150 in the qualifying rounds.

His consistent shooting in the final round resulted in him grabbing the Bronze with a score of 187 beating Richmond Joshua of USA (186) and Nan Wang of China (185) who were earlier tied with him after the qualifying round, a National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) release stated.

However, the Asian Games solver medalist's impressive run was not enough to overpower Hakan Dahlby of Sweden who won the gold with a total score of 192 and Daniele Di Spigno of Italy who won the silver with 188 points.

Meanwhile, the other two Indian shooters in the fray Moraad A Khan and Vikram Bhatnagar did not have good outing and finished with a tame score of 125 and 134 respectively.
