Rohan's ton helps Kerala gain substantial lead over J and K

Palakkad, Nov 30(UNI) A splendid century from star-striker Rohan Prem, who remained unbeaten with 124 and and his 123 run partnership with Tinu Yohannan, helped host Kerala gain a 115-run first innings lead against Jammu and Kashmir on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Plate group 'A' match here today.

At stumps, J and K were 26 for one in their second innings with Parvez Ganani batting on five and Ian Dev Singh 17.

Resuming at overnight score of 72 for two, Kerala lost their rhythm and were losing their wickets at regular intervals, thanks to the brilliant bowling by Smiulla Beigh and Ian Dev Singh. They lost their first wicket with by adding a mere three runs to their overnight score and the other six wickets were scalped by the visitors with the score board reading only 176.

However, Tinu Yohannan, a former test cricketer joined Rohan and took the score to respectability. Rohan's innings studded with 15 fours and one six in 217 balls.

J&K bowler Samiulla Beigh had impressed the connoisseurs of the game with his nagging line and length to claim four wickets for 47 runs in 14.5 overs.
