Ritu Kumari to represent Jharkhand in boxing

Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Feb 11 (PTI) Uncertainty overWorld Boxing Champion, M C Mary Kom representing Jharkhand inthe 34th National Games, was finally dispelled after JharkhandBoxing Association (JBA) named 17-year-old Ritu Kumari as herreplacement.



"We have replaced Mary Kom with Ritu Kumar, a upcomingboxer exhibited impressive performance in Junior Nationalchampionship, as the five time world champion could notprocure no-objection certificate from her employer ManipurPolice as yet," Secretary of JBA Dinesh Upadhyay said.



Mary Kom had expressed her wish to represent Jharkhandin the 51 kgs competition in the women''s section of the boxingand applied to her employer for no-objection certificate.



JBA, which had named Mary Kom in Jharkhand teamselected to represent in the national games, had no option butto replace her as the mega sports event was all set to kickoff from tomorrow.
