Real Madrid to decide future of coach Capello at meeting
MADRID, June 28 (Reuters) Real Madrid are expected to decide the future of coach Fabio Capello at a board meeting today, Spanish media have reported.
The 61-year-old Italian led Real to their first Primera Liga title in four years and has two years left to run on his contract.
But the club's fans and the local media have been critical of what they saw as conservative tactics from Capello earlier in the campaign, when they expect to see open, attacking football.
Real President Ramon Calderon has been tight-lipped on whether Capello would continue.
Spanish sports daily Marca reported today Capello had already been informed he would not be continuing with the club, and that the board meeting was merely to rubber stamp the decision and agree on a successor.
Bernd Schuster, who led modest Getafe to the King's Cup final and into the UEFA Cup for the first time, is tipped as favourite to replace Capello if he leaves.
