RCF score fourth win to head table
Chandigarh, Aug 1 (UNI) Rail Coach Factory of Kapurthala registered their fourth win out of their five outings so far as they defeated Mahilpur Football Club by 2-0 in the 21st Punjab State Super Football League at the SGGS Khalsa College Ground, Phagwara.
RCF took time to settle down. After initial probings, RCF forged ahead in the 39th minute with Dilbag Singh guiding the ball into the Mahilpur Football Club goal. Kulwinder Singh scored RCF's second goal in the 48th minute with Mahilpur FC forced to defend their goal with a crowded defence.
RCF's Manmohan Singh (25th minute) and Vijay Kumar (36th) of Mahilpur FC were shown yellow cards by referee Suraj Bhan Handa for committing deliberate and dangerous fouls.
Meanwhile, the fourth win has further strengthened RCF chances to lift the top honours. RCF have so far collected 12 points from four victories and one defeat in the seven-team round-Robin competitions.
Punjab Police and Jagatjit Cotton Textile Academy are jointly at the second spot with seven points each. They have played four matches each and won two, lost one and drew one. Punjab Police and JCT Academy also have identical goal difference (+4 each). However, JCT Academy have scored eight goals and conceded four. Punjab Police have six goals in favour and two against.
Bottom-placed Mahilpur FC, with one point, and Border Security Force of Jalandhar (2 points) are facing relegation from the super league.
