Ranike laudes role of Punjab Sports Dept

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) Punjab Sports Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike, today lauded the role of the Punjab Sports Department and the Punjab Sports Council for implementing the policies of the state government with total dedication, creating sports culture and properly utilising the energy of the youth in promotion of sports.

Speaking at a function organised by the Punjab Sports Directorate here today, Mr Ranike said ''The sports department is moving in the right direction and providing sports facilities to the grass - root level. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is keen to extend all facilities to the sportspersons, especially the youth.

By involving the youth in the sports activities, the young generation would be kept away from the menace of drug abuse.'' ''Punjab Sports Department Director Pargat Singh has revived and initiated a number of result-oriented sports schemes for the youth of the state. The Punjab Hockey League in three age categories for boys and girls is a laudable step,'' said Mr Gulzar Singh, who visited the Punjab Sports Directorate here for the first time.

In the function, the Sports Minister also presented mementos to the staff as incentive to motivate them to work hard to make Punjab superpower in sports.
