Randhawa shoots himself in foot with last-hole double bogey
Straffan, Ireland, July 8 (UNI) A roller-coaster third round, marred by a last-hole double bogey, dented Jyoti Randhawa's title hopes as the Indian pro returned a poor one-over 71 card to slip to tied 20th position at the Smurfit Kappa European Open.
After three rounds, Randhawa aggregates four-under 206, a whopping six strokes off the leader, Soren Hansen of Denmark who shot a brilliant 63 to move atop the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, another Indian in the fray, Jeev Milkha Singh was marginally better and played a one-under 69 to stay put on tied 38th spot.
Tied sixth overnight, Randhawa opened his account with a birdie on the sixth hole however he dropped a stroke on the 9th to turn at level-par.
Erratic display of golf continued even on the back nine as Randhawa birdied the 10th but nullified it with a bogey on the 12th hole.
He picked up a stroke on the 16th hole and was looking all set to finish under-par but a double bogey on the last hole ruined it all for the Delhi pro.
Jeev on the other hand was more circumspect and mixed two birdies with a bogey for his 69.
