Randhawa, Jeev make cut in lightning-disrupted day in Desert Classic
Dubai, Feb 2 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev Milkha Singh kept the Indian flag flying while compatriot Harmeet Kahlon failed to make the cut after the second round of the Dubai Desert Classic on a lightning disrupted day.
Randhawa, who finished tied third yesterday, was lying at tied ninth after completing 12 holes with six holes left when darkness fell.
Earlir play was halted for over two hours due to a thunder storm at the Emirates Golf Club.
The 34-year-old Randhawa sank in three birdies against one bogey at the Emirates Golf Club.
Meanwhile, Jeev Milkha Singh started in the worst possible way, dropping a shot in the very first hole before play was halted with two more holes to complete. He was tied 35th along with 17 others at the end of the day.
The thrid Indian in the fray, Harmeet Kahlon carded a poor one-over 73 to miss the cut.
Briton Ross Fisher leads the way on 14-under after a second successive seven-under 65.
Three-times champion Ernie Els was second on 12-under with four holes left when darkness fell.
Briton Graeme McDowell (69) and Swede Peter Hanson (65) were joint third on 10-under with another Swede Henrik Stenson, who must also return tomorrow morning for his last four holes.
Defending champion Tiger Woods (67) was unable to mount a sustained challenge as he finished one shot further back on nine-under, reeling off eight pars and a solitary birdie at the eighth.
