Ranadeb wants to prove he is good in ODIs too

Kolkata, Jun 26 (UNI) Bengal pacer Ranadeb Bose today left port with promises to showcase his talent in the shorter version of the game too, should he get to play a game against South africa in Ireland.

''Its a very special moment and I would like to prove my skills so that I can play for India and serve the Indian team,'' he said, accompanied by his mother and father, who had come to see him off at the airport.

''I will certainly try to prove my potential as a one-day bowler too if I get a chance to play against South Africa,'' he said before taking off today morning.

Ranadeb left city after BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah asked him to join the team on a 24-hour notice with five of the Indian team players down with fever and illness.

He will be heading for Belfast where India play three ODIs against South Africa before they move to England for the Test series.

Ranadeb was drafted for the Test squad initially.

''Its a great opportunity for me and I will try very hard not to disappoint,'' he said.

He also said that it was a proud moment for him and he would like to show that he was worth playing for India.

Ranadeb has been knocking hard to break into the national team since last season and his rich haul of 57 wickets this Ranji season from eight games with six fivers and a ten-wicket haul did the trick as the swing bowler was drafted into the Test squad for England.
