Punjabi Univ win inter varsity handball title

Patiala, Jan 20 (UNI) Hosts Punjabi University beat Punjab University, Chandigarh 37-16 in their last league encounter to clinch the mens title of the north-east zone inter varsity handball championship here today.

Kuljeet Khippal scored 10 goals, while Hardev Singh and Inderjeet scored seven and four gools respectively for the winners.

In the women section too, Punjabi Unversity won the championship beating Panjab University 22-10 in the last league match.

Harjeet Kaur scored 6 goals for the winners white Amanpreet and Sandeep scored 3 and 4 goals respectively.

Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar beat MD University, Rohtak 16-9 to clinch the second position in the women section. Panjab University were placed third.

Punjab sports director and renowned hockey player Parget Singh was the chief guest at the concluding function.

UNI
