Punjabi Univ dominate in inter varsity handball

Patiala, Jan 19 (UNI) Host Punjabi University, Patiala, dominated the proceedings on the penultimate day of the ongoing North-East zone Intervarsity Handball Championship at the Raja Bhalendra Singh Stadium here today.

The Punjabi University men's team defeated Kurukshetra University in a well-contested super league match 31-29. Kuljeet Khippal of Punjabi University was the star permormer, scoring 9 brilliant goals to the dismay of the opponents.

In the women's section, Punjabi University defeated Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, by 23-11. Harjit Kaur displayed great skills and thumped in 8 goals for the host University.

Tomorrow, see-saw battles are on the cards when host Punjabi University will take on the formidable Panjab University, Chandigarh and Delhi will face the tough Kurukshetra University in the super league matches.

In the women's section, Punjabi University women team will play against Panjab University and MD University, Rohtak, will meet Guru Nanak Dev University.
