Punjab police stun Vasco club 3-1

Duler, Mar 15 (UNI) Riding on a fine brace by Surabjit Singh, Punjab police shocked table topper Vasco sports club 3-1 and opened their account with three points in their last round match of the ONGC National Football League match at Mapusa in North Goa today.

Surabjit, in the 26th and 39th minutes, and Harjinder Singh in the 77th minute scored for punjab police while Alvito Rodrigues reduced the margin in the 76th minute for Vasco.

Vasco had already qualified for the final phase with nine points from five outings with three wins, two defeats.

Punjab police, who are out of the contention, registered their first win to earn full three points from equal number matches after lossing four matches in a row.

The Punjab side, who started at full steam were leading by two goals at half time scored by Surabjit Singh In the 26th and 39th minute.

After change over Vasco regroped well and reduced the margin in the 76th minute through Alvito Rodrigues.

Police sealed the fate of Vasco increasing their lead within a next minute through Harjinder Singh to make it 3-1.
