Punjab govt honours Vijender, Sushil

Jalandhar, Oct 15 (UNI) The Punjab government today honoured Beijing Olympics bronze medalists, Vijender Kumar (boxing) and Sushil Kumar (wrestling) with cash awards at a function held at the Surjit Singh hockey stadium here.

The two were presented cheques of Rs 11 lakh each by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and MP Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Chief National Boxing coach, Gurdax Singh Sandhu was also presented a cheque of Rs 11 lakh. Another boxer, Jatinder Kumar for reached the quarter final in his weight category at Beijing was presented a cheque of Rs five lakh.
