Pune Thrashes Sayaji Rao University

Kannur, Nov 11 (UNI) University of Pune defeated Maharashtra Sayaji Rao Univeristy, Baroda, in straight sets 25-17, 25-2, 25-17 in the inaugural pool matches of the South-West Zone Inter-univeristy Volleyball Championship for women here today.

Bangalore univeristy and Veer Narmada S G univeristy, Surat got walkovers.

The tournament was inaugurated by P Karunakaran in a function at the sports complex in the Mangattuparamba campus. Vice-Chancellor, P Chandra Mohan presided over the function.

The inaugural function was preceded by a colourful mach-past by the teams.

This is for the first time that Kannur University was hosting an inter-university sports event.
