PU judokas win two gold medals

Chandigarh, Jan 21 (UNI) Hosts Panjab University hogged the limelight by winning two gold medals out of three at stake on the second day of the All India Inter-University Judo (men) Championships being held at the Panjab University Gymnasium here today.

Hardeep Singh fought a good bout against his namesake from Kurukshetra University in the 60 kg final to claim gold medal. Later Rajnish Sharma emerged winner against Kuldeep Kumar of Maharishi Dayanand University of Rohtak in the 73 kg final.

The hosts have so far collected three gold medals at the conclusion of second day's programme.

Parvender of MDU Rohtak denied Panjab University a clean sweep on the second day as he defeated Amandeep Singh in the 66 kg bout final.

Results: 60 kg: 1 Hardeep Singh (Panjab University, Chd), 2 Hardeep Singh (Kurukshetra University), 3 Katkar Sudhi (Dr Babasahib Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad) and Pavel (MDU Rohtak).

66 kg: 1 Parvender (MDU Rohtak), 2 Amandeep Singh (Panjab University, Chd), 3 Sanjay Kumra (Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) and Ram Rattan Nain (Delhi University).

73 kg: 1 Rajnish Sharma (Panjab University, Chd), 2 Kuldeep Kumar (MDU spr) UNI XC JN MMS AB RN2139
