PSPB and Railways start campaign with fluent victories

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Defending Champions PSPB and Railways began defence of their titles with fluent victories over in the men and women section respectively in the the 37th All India Inter Institutional Table Tennis Championships here today.

Spearheaded by Commonwealth Games gold medal winner A. Sharath Kamal, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) overwhelmed Reserve Bank and Defence Accounts 3-1 and 3-0 respectively in the men's team section.

In the women section Railways, with Anindita Chakroborty in their ranks, blanked Postel Sports Board (PSB) 3-0.

Results: Men's team Championship Round-I: Defence Accounts beat Reserve Bank 3-2, Canara Bank beat AIESCB 3-0, Major Ports beat Steel plants 3-0, FCI beat Life Insurance 3-0, Ordiance Factory beat Coal India 3-0, Postal Sports beat Indian Airlines 3-0, Audit and Accounts beat Indian Air Force 3-0.

Round-II: PSPB beat Reserve Bank 3-1, Railways beat Steel Plants 3-0, Majot Ports beat AIESCB 3-1, Air India beat Coal India 3-0, FCI beat Ordinance Factory 3-0, 0rdiance Factory (3-0), BSNL beat IAF 3-0, Audit and Accounts beat Indian Airlines 3-0.

Round-III (all results 3-0): PSPB beat Defence Accounts, BSB beat Reserve Bank, Railways beat Major Ports, Canara Bank beat Steel Plants, Air India beat Ordinance Factory, Postal Sports beat IAF Women: Round-I: Railways beat Postal sports 3-0, Air India beat Audit and Accounts 3-0, BSB beat LIC 3-0 BSNL beat Defence Accounts 3-1.

Round-II Postal Sports beat Audit Accounts 3-0, BSNL beat LIC 3-0.
