Promoter Parnevik working hard at Scandinavian Masters

ARLANDASTADT, Sweden, Aug 15 (Reuters) Jesper Parnevik, venturing into promotion as host of this week's Scandinavian Masters, says he will never again complain to tournament organisers now he knows how hard the job can be.

The Swede is the latest professional to help promote a European Tour event, following the likes of Northern Irishman Darren Clarke, Dane Thomas Bjorn, Spaniards Miguel Angel Jimenez and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and German Marcel Siem.

As the first home winner of the Scandinavian Masters in 1995, Parnevik is particularly happy to be closely involved.

''It's been close to me all my life. As a kid I watched Seve (Ballesteros), Greg Norman, all my idols, play in Sweden,'' he told reporters today.

''I was the first Swede to win it, so it was a natural decision to get involved.

''But I will never complain to a tournament organiser ever again! ''The logistics are enormous, it's so much to organise, I'm amazed they can have a tournament.

''It's been a lot of hard work. Late last Sunday night I had a phone call from Tom Lehman standing at the airport saying his elbow was hurting and could I arrange a doctor.

''Five minutes later John Daly rang to say he was stuck in the States and couldn't get here. We finally found him a Malaysian Air flight on Monday night.

''Then soon after Bill Murray (American actor playing in the pro-am) said all his flights from Scotland, where he had been playing Carnoustie, were booked.

''It was very hectic but we got them all here.'' Parnevik is a full-time member of the U.S. Tour, rather than the European Tour. His season has been blighted, first by a broken finger and then by a broken toe.
