Prakash storms into Hall of Fame quarter-final
Newport, Rhode Island, July 13 (UNI) Prakash Amritraj of India stormed into the quarter-final of the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, thrashing Scoville Jenkins of the US in straight sets, and raised the prospects of mouthwatering semi-final clash with Pakistan's Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi in the 416,000 dollar event.
The US-based Indian capitalised on mistakes of the American wildcard and broke his opponent four times to win the match 6-4, 6-3 in one hour 22 minutes and make into the last eight of an ATP Tour event for the first time.
Son of legendary Vijay Amritraj, qualifier Prakash had to endure three setters in his previous two matches.
Prakash takes on fifth-seeded Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in the quarter-final, who defeated compatriot Antony Dupuis 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1 to move into the last eight.
An upset win over Mahut may see Amritraj taking on Qureshi provided the Pakistani, who sent packing top seed American Mardy Fish in the first round, defeats Belgian Dick Norman in his next match.
