Portuguese striker Pauleta plans to end carreer in 2008

LISBON, Mar 3 (Reuters) Paris St Germain's Portuguese striker Pauleta plans to end to his career next year, the Lisbon daily Correio da Manha today reported.

''My contract with the Paris club ends in 2008 and at that time I will be 34. It is not the usual age to change club so I should quit football,'' Pauleta said in an interview with the newspaper.

Pauleta said he would return to his native Azores Islands where he has a foundation and a football school for children.

His country's all-time leading scorer with 47 goals in 88 appearances, Pauleta quit international football following Portugal's 3-1 defeat by hosts Germany in the third-place playoff at the 2006 World Cup.
