Politically strong Sultanpur lacks sports facilities

Sultanpur, Aug 29 (UNI) Even as the district holds great importance in the field of politics, the inadequate sports facilities reflects a pitty condition on the eve of International Sports Day today.

Besides the fact that Amethi parliamentary constituency, represented by the youth political leader Rahul Gandhi falls under the district, the lack of sports facilties have grabbed the attention of sport fraternity on the day.

An MLA from Amethi, Amita Singh have been a badminton player at national level, but mere efforts are taken to promote the sports in the area.

Player of India-A cricket team and Amethi resident Pankaj Singh noted ''lack of proper facilties have marred the opportunities for players. The cricket grounds are not upto the standard, which adversely affects the confidence level of players.'' While, Handball player Ankita Singh says '' due to lack of coaches, there is no one to guide the players properly.'' ''On the eve of Internatonal Sports Day today, no programme is being organised to encourage the youth of the area to enculcate their skills in the games,'' hockey player Dhyan Chand observed.

The district has three stadiums viz Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar stadium, a mini stadium at Ghorha and Pant stadium at Sultanpur district headoffice, but neither do they have proper facilties and equipmets nor coaches.
