PM visit Commonwealth Games office

Pune, Feb 9: Prime Minister Singh on Saturday made surprice a visit to the office of the third commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) to be held in the city in October this year.


Taking time off from his hectic schedule, Singh, on the last leg of his two-day visit to Maharashtra, spent about 20 minutes to get acquainted with the preparations of the prestigious fixture, a forerunner for the mega-event of the games slated for 2010 in Delhi.
When he visited the office, the countdown clock installed there displayed the figure of 246 days.


Suresh Kalmadi, organising committee Chairman of the CYG welcomed Singh who watched a ten-minute long film on the preparations for the games in which about 70 countries are expected to participate.

Singh, who was accompanied by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, expressed his satisfaction over the preparatory work for the games.
