PGTI shocked at sudden demise of S Madaiah
New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) The Professional Golf Tour of India expressed shock over the sudden demise of one of its most upcoming players, Bangalore's S Madaiah who was killed in a road accident last weekend. According to reports reaching here, Madaiah was involved in a head-on collision with a truck, an accident that also took the live of his traveling companion.
Ajai Gupta, Tour Commissioner, PGTI expressed the grief felt by his colleagues on the tour.
''It is a sad moment for the entire golfing community. Madaiah was one of the best golfers to emerge out of the south in recent years and he had a great future ahead of him,'' Gupta said.
PGTI Board member Digvijay Singh in his tribute said,''Madaiah was a talented golfer and had achieved a lot in his short career.
But more importantly, he was respected by his counterparts on the tour and got along with everyone. He will definitely be missed.'' Madaiah scored his best finish last season when he finished runner-up at the SRF All-India Professional Matchplay Golf Championship.
He finished 21st on the 2006-07 Order of Merit and carded three top-ten finishes last season. A promising youngster, he was looking forward to qualifying for the Asian Tour in the near future.
