Pargat congratulates Prabhjot for setting new national record

Chandigarh, Nov 13 (UNI) Punjab Sports Director Padamshree Pargat Singh today congratulated Prabhjot Singh of Punjab for establishing a new national record in discus throw for boys Under-18 category in the ongoing National Junior Athletics Championship in Mysore.

Prabhjot erased Simranjit Singh's previous record of 55.35 metres, with an explosive throw to a distance of 58.10 metres.

Praising the display by the youngster, Olympian Pargat said, ''The thrower had done Punjab proud with his outstanding performance.

Keep it up.'' Three new national records were established on the second-day of the meet. Besides Prabhjot, Saba Bhagat and Gayathri Govindaraj of Tamil Nadu wrote their names in the record book by setting new National marks.

The Sports Director also complimented Davinder Singh (Boys Under-18) and Manveer Singh (Boys U-16) for winning gold medals in their respective events.

Davinder won 400 metres in 49.4 seconds, while Manveer finished first in 100 metres hurdles.
