Pankaj storms into finals
Bangalore, Jan 21 (UNI) Doha Asian Games Gold Winner Pankaj Advani stormed into finals defeating Rupesh Shah of Gujrath 1557-736 in the 73rd Senior National Billiards Championship here today.
Former World Champion Pankaj, who took time to settle, had break at 161, 109, 75, 191, 163, 429, 87. Rupesh, who started well to take lead failed initially to maintain the tempo despite breaks at 64,69, 71, 71.
With second session of the second Semi final between former World Champion Geet Sethi and Dhruv Satwal in progress, Pankaj, in all probability would meet Geet who is already leading by over 400 points in the first session.
In the match played for fifth position, B Bhaskar of Karnataka, who had shown doors to defending champion Devender Joshi of PSPB, failed to maintain his tempo in the second match. In the first match he defeated Alok Kumar 382-187 but succumbed to Ashok Shandilya of Railways in the second match 325-101.
Ashok Sahdilya finished Fifth in the Championship, while Bhaskar, Alok Kumar and Devendra Joshi had to be satisfied with Sixth, Seventh and Eighth position respectively.
