Pakistan probe bust up between Akhtar and Asif
JOHANNESBURG, Sep 7 (Reuters) Pakistan's Twenty20 World Cup management are investigating a bust-up between fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.
''There has been an incident between Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif and the team management are carrying out an investigation,'' media manager Dr Ehsan Malik told Reuters yesterday.
''The result will be known tomorrow morning.'' A team source told Reuters that during a heated argument between the two players in the nets at their camp in Benoni, Akhtar had struck Asif on his thigh with a bat.
''It developed into a serious altercation and got out of control before the captain, manager and coach intervened,'' said the source, who declined to be identified.
Pakistan, who arrived in Johannesburg from Nairobi yesterday after winning a four-nation tournament, are in Group D of the Twenty20 World Cup alongside India and Scotland.
