KARACHI, Feb 25 (Reuters) Pakistan can scoop up around $1.2 million in bonus cash if they win the World Cup in the West Indies, a senior Pakistan Cricket Board official said today.
The PCB said each player in the 15-member squad would be paid a bonus of five million rupees ($84,000) if they won the March 13-April 28 tournament.
''This is a move to provide some incentives for the players.
Even if they make the semi finals they will get 2.5 million (42,000 dollar) each,'' director of cricket operations Saleem Altaf said.
There is also a cash bonus of $20,000 for each player for making the semi-finals.
''The World Cup is a mega event and if they win it they deserve the rewards,'' Altaf said.
At a reception today the chief patron of the board, president Pervez Musharraf, reminded the players of the country's high expectations.
''The President is a big fan of cricket and he wanted to meet the players to give them a boost,'' Altaf said.
Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup.
