Pakictan clears 10 bowlers with suspect actions
Lahore, Jan 11 (UNI) After overturning bans on dope-tainted pace duo of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad asif, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) extended its largesse to 10 domestic bowlers with suspect actions by lifting their bans.
The Bowling Action Committee (BAC) of the PCB cleared pacers Zaheer Aslam, Ihsan Sheikh, Nadeem Javed, Agha Sharique and spinners Tariq Mahmood, Ahmed Nasim, Asad Zahid, Munir Ansari, Noor-ul-Amin, and Athar Hussain, who were slapped witha four-week ban.
''After completion of the second phase of remedial workout activity and reviewing the biomechanical analysis reports, PCB BAC has given the verdict in favour of the following bowlers by judging their bowling action to be legal and has allowed them to resume bowling in domestic cricket competitions,'' the board said in a statement.
Earlier, in an attempt to curb the menace, PCB had suspended 22 bowlers from bowling in domestic competitions and they were provided opportunities by PCB for remedial workout with Regional Head Coaches and at National Cricket Academy to improve their action before they appeared for analysis at NCA.
