Pak skipper wants to win the Twenty20 World Cup undefeated

Lahore, July 12 (UNI) Newly-appointed Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik not only wants his team to win the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa but also hopes to remain undefeated in the event.

Speaking to reporters at the Gaddafi stadium, Shoaib said, ''We are working hard and I want my team to remain unbeaten while grabbing the Twenty20 World Championship.'' ''We have to improve our fielding because I believe this department will play a vital role in winning the Twenty20 Championship. We can save 20 to 25 runs as a result of good fielding and that is very important,'' he asserted.

On selection of the players, he said ''(unlike India) We will select only those who deserve to feature in Twenty20 cricket and the factor of senior or junior will not be significant.'' India's top three top players Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly have already opted out of the Twenty20 World Championship to be held in September this year.

Shoaib also revealed the Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to hold a tri-nation series before the championship, to allow players the necessary practise for the competition.

Speaking about the latest version of the game, he said it is not only about slogging but it does requires batsman who can play according to the quickly changing demands on the field.

Pakistan were shockingly ousted from the World Cup in West Indies after loosing to minnows Ireland.
