Gwalior, Feb 19 (UNI) Defending champions Punjab and Sind Bank, Jalandhar, today beat Air India (AI), Delhi, 14-13 in sudden death to win the 72nd All-India Scindia Gold Cup Hockey Championship at the North Central Railway hockey stadium.

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of the stipulated 70 minutes.

The tie-breaker ended 5-5. In sudden death, AI's 8th attempt was stopped by the bankmen.

Mayor Vivek Shejwalkar awarded the trophy to the victors.

''Rs 2 lakh were presented to the winners and Rs 1 lakh to the runners-up,'' said Deputy Secretary (Organisation) Satyapal Singh Chouhan.
