ONGC holds Chirag to a goaless draw

Duler, Mar 6 (UNI) Chirag United (Kolkata) and Oil and Natural Gas Commision (Mumbai) had to content with one point each when both played out a goaless draw in the ONGC Second Division National Football league match here at Mapusa in North Goa today.

With this drawn match, both maintained their points tally with four points each from two outings with a win and draw.

It was a tale of missed chances for both the teams in an evenly balanced encounter which did not rise upto expectations. The first half did not witness much of action. The only notable move was seen from Chirag a minute before the breather when Crispin Chetri passed the ball to Jitendra, who, only to beat the rival goalkeeper, unleashed powerpack shot which hit left goal post and went wide and Chirag were deprived of a goal.

In the counter attack in the 48th minute, ONGC too came with a good move Abhishek Yadan, after collecting the ball, raced down with it dodging past rival defenders and also beat the goalkeeper but Chirag defender Wazid Ali rescued his team with a brilliant timely goaline save.

In the 69th minute, Chirag's Liberian Theodora Sunday's well attempted shot was wasted. In the 76th minute, ONGC had another chance to move ahead but Abhisek Yadan's feeble shot was well collected by the rival goalkeeper.

A few minutes before the close of the play, ONGC came with a very good move with Kaushik Bose and Rakshak Naik attempting a shot which was again saved by Chirag goalkeeper.
