Ogilvie leads Milwaukee Championship by two shots
CHICAGO, July 21 (Reuters) American Joe Ogilvie hit seven birdies and no bogeys in a seven-under 63 to give him a two-stroke lead at the halfway point of the 4 million dollars Milwaukee Championship.
Ogilvie, who opened with a 67, posted a pair of birdies on the front side and five on the homeward half of his second round, including back-to-back birdies from the 11th and 15th, to reach a 10-under total of 130 yesterday.
Tied for second on eight under were overnight leader Jeff Maggert and fellow American Garrett Willis. Maggert followed his opening 63 with 69, while Willis shot 68 for 132.
Six players were tied at seven-under 133 including left-hander Steve Flesch (64), 1993 champion Billy Mayfair (64) and South African Tim Clark, who squandered a three-shot lead with nine holes to play at last week's John Deere Classic.
Americans Tim Herron (67), Bob Heintz (64) and Craig Bowden (67) were also at 133.
Seventy-one players made the cut, set at even-par 140, including 17-year-old Tony Finau from Salt Lake City, who fired a 65 to overcome an opening 75 and qualify for weekend play in his professional debut.
Corey Pavin, last year's winner, shot scores of 69-73 for two-over-par 142 at the 6,759-yard Brown Deer Park, the shortest course on the US Tour, and missed the cut.
