NZ Central Excise Sports begin
Chandigarh, Jan 23 (UNI) Brilliant knocks by former Haryana Ranji player Rakesh Jolly and Gurinder Singh (72) helped Chandigarh Zone defeat Meerut-Kanpur Zone by 109 runs in a cricket match played at St John's School in the Central Revenue Sports Meet (North Zone).
The meet was declared open by Mr Mohd Izhar Alam, DG (Vig) Punjab at Sports Complex here. D S Sra, Chief Commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Chandigarh Zone welcomed the players and exhorted them to give out their best.
About 300 players of Customs, Central Excise and Income Tax Department from Chandigarh, Meerut, MP- Chhatisgarh and Delhi-Jaipur Zones comprising of seven Northern States and UT Chandigarh are vying for the top honors.
