No Mumbai tour for Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong

Mumbai, Feb 8 (PTI) In what will be a big disappointmentfor all cycling enthusiasts in the city, cycling legend LanceArmstrong will not accompany his team Radioshack, which isparticipating in the Tour de Mumbai this week, as he is busypreparing "for a third career as a triathlete".

"No, unfortunately not. He has a very busy schedule withhis Livestrong organisation and he is preparing now for athird career as triathlete," Radioshack''s team manager, AlainGallopin, told PTI in an email interview.

Last month''s ''Tour Down Under'' was reportedly the lastoverseas race of Armstrong, a record seven-time Tour de Francewinner.

Armstrong, who won seven titles consecutively from 1999to 2005 after surviving testicular cancer, founded theorganisation called Livestrong, an NGO which works for thecancer affected people.

USA''s Radioshack and Italy''s top team Liquigas, two ofthe top professional cycling teams, will take part in atwo-stage international Class I cycling race to be held laterin the week in Nashik and Mumbai.

Three-time holder of the green jersey sprinters''classification at Tour de France Robbie McEwen, New ZealanderSam Bewley, a bronze medal winner in Beijing Olympics,five-time South African cyclist of the year Robbie Hunter,double European champion Michal Kwiatkowski from Poland,Japanese Fumiyuki Beppu and American Bjorn Selander willrepresent the USA team in the event. .
