No surprises in Indian World Cup squad: Borde
Pune, Feb 12 (UNI) Former National selection committee chairman Chandu Borde today said there were no surprises in the Indian squad for the World Cup, which gets underway in West Indies next month.
He said the selection panel, headed by Dilip Vengsarkar, had kept the present form and fitness of the players in mind while selecting the 15-member team.
Although the fielding aspect remains the prime concern as some of the players are much below the standard required for the World Cup, Borde said Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar should be fit before the World Cup begins.
The next two ODIs against Sri Lanka should prove beneficial to Virendra Sehwag, Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar to regain their form and fitness, he said.
Borde said he was perturbed by Sehwag's lack of form recently but expected him to bounce back in time.
There should be planning and strategy in every match and it should be well-defined to enable the Indian team to reach the Super League, he added.
