No SRK show at Eden Gardens on May 8

Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty today said there will be no Shah Rukh Khan show at Eden Gardens before the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers match on Thursday.

He said the event managment, Red Chillies Entertainment, informed him that Kolkata Knight Riders' owner Shah Rukh Khan would not perform before the crucial T20 match.

This official confirmation of '' No SRK show'' came a day after West Bengal Sports Minister Subhas Chakraborty expressed his reservation about such cultural show on a day coinciding with the birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore.

The city police chief said a makeshift stage will be erected in front of J block for a show by the local artistes.

Who will perform and what will be theme were not known immediately but the stage will be dismantled ten minutes before the match kicks off, Mr Chakraborty said after inspecting the stadium this evening.
