Negi finishes joint first at Kaupthing Open

Differdange, Luxemburg, May 17 (UNI) Young Grandmaster (GM) Parimarjan Negi did the country proud, finishing at the joint first position along with Andrei Istratescu of Romania at the Kaupthing Open chess tournament here today.

Negi and Istratescu both finished on seven points after the conclusion of the last round. However, the Romanian, who had the better progressive total, picked up the coveted title.

GM Koneru Humpy of India had won the championship last year.
