NCC team to begin river sailing expedition from Sep 17
Vijayawada, Sep 11 (UNI) The naval wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) comprising 100 officers, cadets and other staff will embark on a 11-day sailing expedition in river Godavari from September 17.
Six regular officers and 56 naval wing cadets from Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada and Nellore, would be participating in the expedition, Commanding Officer of the 8 Andhra naval unit NCC here Shivlal said in a release last night.
The expedition, covering a distance of 400 km in the river Godavari from Edcharapalli near Venkatapuram to Kakinada, would provide an opportunity for the naval wing NCC cadets and staff to experience adventure sailing in the river and give them a scope to visit historical places.
During the expedition, the sailing boats would negotiate the nerve testing rapids while crossing the anicut at Domagudem and also transit through Papikondalu hills between Kunavaram and Devipattanam, the release added.
Group Commander Col Y S Ganesh would flag off the 100-member team that would leave for Edcharapalli in eight vehicles from here on September 15.
Starting from Edcharapalli on September 17, the expedition team would reach Bhadrachalam on September 19, Rajahmundry on September 23 before touching Samalkot on September 27 for the closing ceremony, the release added.
