NCC (NER) and Bengal school to clash in Subroto Cup junior final

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) NCC (North Eastern Region) will take on Sagarbhanga High School, Durgarpur, in the junior (Under 17) category final of the Subroto Cup football tournament here.

In a closely fought semi-final match today, Aizawl-based NCC (NER) overcame Rosary High School, Panjim, 3-2 with James scoring the winning goal in the last minute.

Goa school's Vellington Rocha snatched an early lead in the third minute with an opportunistic goal only to be restored parity by Lalhlimpuia of NCC team in the 13th minute.

Lalbiaksanga put NCC again in the lead in the 50th minute but the Goans levelled the score through Joles Fernandes in the 51st minute before James settled the issue.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sagarbhanga High School, Durgarpur, had beaten OM Roy HS School, Shillong, 3-2 in extra time to storm into the final.

In the other match of the day invloving Under 14 schools, St.

Stephen's, Chandigarh, defeated Sri Vyas Bal Mandir, Neemuch 17-0.

Siraj Singh scored five goals, Waris four, Mohd Sajid and Attinder Singh three each while Sirtaj Singh and Kanwar Singh netting one goal each.
