NB, WB emerge champions in sub-junior table tennis match

Vijayawada, Nov 27 (UNI) Defending Champion North Bengal in Sub-junior Boys and West Bengal in Girls team events emerged Champions in the 70th Sub-junior National Table Tennis Championship which concluded at the DRMC Indoor Stadium here this evening.

In the finals, in Girls section, the encounter between West Bengal and Maharashtra 'A' was a keenly contested with former defeating the defending Champion 3-2.

In the first singles Sutirtha Mukherjee lost to Mallika Bhandarkar 9-11, 11-7, 3-11, 8-11 while in second singles Camelia Sil beat Senora D'Souza 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7. In the doubles Sutirtha Mukherjee and Camelia Sil beat Mallika Bhandarkar and Sendra D'Souza 11-7, 11-4, 11-5.

In the reverse singles, Camelia Sil of West Bengal lost to Mallika Bhandarkar of Maharashtra 'A' in straight sets 10-12, 5-11, 6-11. In the second reverse singles Sutirtha Mukherjee beat Sendra D'Souza 11-7, 11-8, 12-10.

In the other final in Boys section, North Bengal defeated West Bengal 3-0.

Shubham Basak beat Sandipan Dey 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7 in the first singles while Rajib Sarkar defeated Sandip Pal 6-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-5 in the other singles match.

In the doubles encounter, the winners trounced the losers 11-8, 11-8, 11-6 in one sided match.
