Naveen Shanker stuns top seed Ashwani

Chandigarh, Dec 19 (UNI) Naveen Shanker shocked top ranked and top seeded Ashwani Kumar in straight but hard-fought two sets in the boys under-18 singles quarter-final match in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Championship at the CLTA Tennis Stadium in Sector 10 here today.

Unseeded Garry Singh Amor continued his winning spree as he defeated eight seed Sidhant Solanki of Delhi with ease at 6-4, 6-1.

Meanwhile, in the boys under-16 quarter-final round, Kamal Kishore Maderana of Rajasthan overcame a stiff resistance from Suraj Beniwal of Haryana before scoring a thrilling win. Sixth seeded Kamal rallied to win by 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6).

Kamal Kishore Maderana won the boys doubles under-16 as well as under-18 doubles titles.

In the boys under-16 doubles final, Kamal and Digvijay Singh Naruka (Chandigarh) defeated Chandigarh pair of Gaurav Inder Toor and Paramveer S Toor (6-4, 7-5).

In the boys U-18 doubles final, Kamal and Navneet Kumar (UP) beat Garry S Amor (Chd) and Raghav Singhal (Chd) 6-3, 6-4.
