National Winter Games torch relay flagged off in capital

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Indian Olympic Committee (IOC) president Suresh Kalmadi flagged off the torch relay of the fifth National Winter Games here today.

Kalmadi handed over the torch to veteran olympian Gulam Mustafa.

The torch will travel to Dehradun, Shimla and Jammu before reaching Srinagar.

About 500 athletes will vie for honours in events like Alpine Skiing, Cross Country and Ice Skating.

The Games will kick-off at Gulmarg from February 17-22. The opening ceremony is on February 18 while the closing ceremony is on February 22.
