National, Interstate carrom championship from Feb 2 to 7

Mumbai, Jan 25 (UNI) The 37th senior national and interstate carrom championship for men and women will be held at Chennai from February 2 to 7.

The championship will be hosted by the Chennai District Carrom Association under the auspices of Tamil Nadu Carrom Association and All India Carrom Federation, a release issued here today said.

The championship is slated to become the largest ever with almost 37 states, Union Territories and 15 institutions like LIC, Indian Airlines, Banks Sports Board, All India Electricity Sports Control Board, Reserve Bank of India, Indian Audit&Accounts Department, United India Insurence Co Ltd, BSNL&Post &Telegraph taking part in the tournament.

A Total of 8 events namely Inter State Team Championship (Men), Inter State Team Championship (Women), Men Singles, Women Singles, Veteran Singles (Men), Veteran Singles (Women), Inter Institution Men Team champoinship, and Inter Institution women Team championship will be conducted.

Avinash Virkar International Umpire from Maharashtra will be the Chief Referee for this Championship, the release added.
