National Equestrian Championship from Dec 10 to 30

Chennai, Dec 7 (UNI) About 30 teams, comprising over 250 horses, would vie for the top honours in the National Equestrian Championship, to be held at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) here from December ten to 30.

The events of the blue ribbon national championship -- dressage, show jumping, tent pegging and cross-country -- would be held at the adjacent Mohite Stadium, OTA.

Talking to reporters here last night, OTA Commandant and Organising Committee Chairman Maj Gen R K Swamy said the stage was set for the championship, which had received tremendous response from the civilian team, proving that the sport was not confined to Army alone.

The event, which would also have participants from Japan, Australia and Singapore, carried a total prize money of Rs ten lakh.
