Nasir beats Yadav to reach semi-final in Karachi

Karachi, Aug 24 (UNI) India's Mandeep Yadav crashed out as he went down tamely 4-6, 1-6 to local challenger Nasir Mushtaq in the quarter-final of the ITF juniors ranking tennis tournament here.

Nasir, a junior international, in the process took revenge of the defeat of compatriot and sixth seed Yasir Khan who was beaten by Mandeep Yadav in the second round.

In the semi-final, Nasir will take on Chandril Sood who got past Gugan Varma 6-1, 6-4 in an all India quarter-final.

In the other semi-final, Umeet Shinde (India) will face Nuttorn Tanchainant of Thailand.

However, in the doubles, top seeded pair of Sood brothers -- Chandril and Lakshit -- overpowered Nasir and Ahmed Aslam 7-5, 6-3 to move into the semi-finals.

In the girl's section, India's unseeded Ratnika Batra and second seed Soniya Dayal set up a semi-final clash.

Ratnika defeated Natasha Afridi 6-2, 6-2 while Soniya beat Asha Mohan 7-5, 6-2 in the quarter-final.

Top seed Inayat Khosla (India) and Carol Benito (Spain) have already qualified for the last four.
