Nagpur to host junior national girls chess tournament next month
Nagpur, Aug 26 (UNI) The Junior (under 19) National Girls Chess tournament will be held in Nagpur from September 22 to 28 next.
The tournament would be played in 11 rounds Swiss league, said Y M Shyamkuwar, Secretary of Vidarbha Chess Association (VCA), which will host the tournament on behalf of All India Chess Federation under the aegis of Maharashtra Chess Association.
Total prize money of Rs 57,000 will be at stake, including Rs 20,000 for the winner, he said. Free lodging would be provided to participants sending in their entries before the last date, which is September 15, he added.
Meanwhile, the 18th Maharashtra State Mini (under 19) Chess Championship, also being hosted by VCA and being sponsored by Union Bank of India, began here yesterday. A total of 55 boys and 18 girls are participating in the meet, which is scheduled to end on August 29.
