Muthiah's come back bid fails, Srinivasan relected President

Chennai, Jun 29 (UNI) Former Cricket Board and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) President A C Muthiah today failed in his bid to come back to the helm of affairs in the TNCA today.

In the elections conducted at the annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at the TNCA premises here , Muthia's bid to dislodge the reigning President of the Association and Cricket Board Treasurer N Srinivasan failed as the latter defeated him 134-55 votes.

Muthiah, it may be recalled, had completed the maximum six term tenure as President of TNCA as per its Constitution in 2002.

Srinivasan had then succeeded him and is holding the reins of power in the Association, which is avowedly the best managed in the country.

It was also a clean sweep for Srinivasan's current team of other officer bearers with incumbent Secretary Kasi Viswanathan defeating Shanti Kumbhat 142-49 and incumbent Jt Secretary G Natarajan ousting his rival K L Balaji, another member of Mr Muthiah's camp 120-71.

The other office bearers elected were: Hon Treasurer: S Ganeshan Vice-Presidents: U Prabhakar Rao, K V Aiyappan, C R Vijayaraghavan Dr D N Seshagiri.

Vice-Presidents(Districts): N R Manivannan and K G Muralidharan (elected unanimously).
