Murali honoured with Sri Lanka's top sports award

Colombo, Jul 17 (UNI) In a major boost ahead of the the Test series at home against India, veteran off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has been chosen for Sri Lanka's 'Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year' award.

President Mahinda Rajapakse presented the award to Muralitharan at a glittering function here last night.

Muralitharan, who averages more than six wickets per Test in 16 years of international cricket, is one of the most successful bowlers in the history of the game with 735 scalps from 120 matches.
